Parent Discussion Series

The Nurture the Nature Parent Discussion Series is a program which was developed to connect parents within school communities. The goal of the program is to provide parents with a regular, safe, and judgment-free space to receive practical and beneficial information regarding their child(ren)’s development, as well as ask questions, share ideas, and receive support from one another.

During each session, registered parents come together virtually for a 30-minute presentation, followed by a 30-minute discussion. Schools have the opportunity to choose from the list of prepared topics, or request a customized subject based on the current needs of their parenting community. All attendees are asked to complete a small survey ahead of time so that pertinent and sought-after information can be addressed effectively during each planned presentation.

Prepared topics for parenting discussions include:

  • Building Trusting Relationships & Establishing Meaningful Connections
  • Implementing Effective Communication Methods
  • Reducing the Occurrence of Power Struggles
  • Facilitating Independence – Preparing the Home, the Child, and the Parent
  • Understanding Whole Child Development
  • Incorporating Impactful Behaviour Management Strategies
  • Rethinking the Concept of Discipline
  • Supporting the Development of Intrinsic Motivation
  • Integrating Conflicting Parenting Strategies
  • Managing Parental Stress

***Although monthly sessions would be the most impactful, as all topics of discussion are interconnected, schools have the flexibility to host gatherings as often as they choose based on the needs of their individual communities.
